Professional Roles and Evaluation Metrics for Core Facilities Personnel

The rapid and widespread evolution of technologies has driven the reorganization of research structures, leading to the creation of centralized technological platforms known as Core Facilities. These Facilities are designed to facilitate researchers’ access with to complex instruments and technologies through the expertise and competence of highly specialized personnel.
However, this development has highlighted a gap in the regulatory framework: there is a lack of classifications for the innovative professional roles that have emerged to support this new research model.
This group aims to identify, share, and discuss the essential characteristics of these new professional roles within Core Facilities. Based on this analysis, the group will work towards securing formal recognition of these roles within research institutions. This effort will serve as a foundation for developing an evaluation method of evaluation that reflects the evolving competencies required by an evolving research system.
