The Network of Italian Core Facilities
The Network of Italian Core Facilities (NICo) was established in 2022 through a collaborative effort involving several Italian Universities and Research Institutes
NICo’s goal is to foster positive synergies among Core Facilities operating in the field of Life Sciences and to enhance their visibility and accessibility.
NICo seeks to facilitate the sharing of resourses and expertise among its member Institutions, promoting collaborative and open innovation policies. This approach aims to make advanced instrumentation and technologies available to the scientific community and enterprises through the expertise of highly skilled personnel.
NICo’s mission is to develop an integrated network of Core Facilities, positioning itself as a leading reference for outstanding research both nationally and internationally.
NICo Members
The Network of Italian Core Facilities (NICo) comprises twelve Institutions equipped with centralized technological platforms, which have signed the Memorandum of Understanding
Working Groups
NICo hosts technical and cross-sectional working groups focused on sharing best practices in platform management, discussing long-term sustainability, to identifying funding opportunities and exploring career development for personnel.
NICo-BBMRI.it Collaboration Agreement
The Network of Italian Core Facilities (NICo) has established a Collaboration Agreement with BBMRI.it, the National Node of the BBMRI-ERIC infrastructure, as part of the PNRR Project “Strengthening BBMRI.it“, which aims to strengthen the network of Italian biobanks.
Webinar: Characterization of Human Samples
The NICo network is offering two webinars organized as part of the PNRR Strengthening BBMRI.it project.
The series, titled Characterization of Human Samples: Legal Aspects Related to Core Facility Service Provision, includes two sessions:
- The Legal Dimensions of Human Samples – November 15, 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
- Legal Relationships Between Research Entities, Biobanks, and Core Facilities – November 22, 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Attorney Matteo Macilotti, the legal lead for the Italian BBMRI-ERIC node, will discuss the ethical and legal aspects relevant to offering services involving human-origin samples and data.
The webinars are open to all personnel from Core Facilities and Biobanks, as well as other interested participants.
