Core Facilities<\/strong> are centralized laboratories<\/strong> within a network<\/strong> or a single research center<\/strong>, designed to facilitate access to advanced instrumentation and technologies<\/strong> through the experience and expertise of dedicated personnel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Core facilities are centralised shared research resources<\/strong> that provide access to instruments, technologies, services<\/strong>, as well as expert consultation and other services<\/strong> to scientific and clinical investigators. Institutions establish core facilities, including the corresponding costing structure of the facility, to provide required services to users generally, with all or a portion of the cost of these services charged to users\u2019 accounts. The typical core facility is a discrete unit within an institution<\/strong> and may have dedicated personnel, equipment, and space<\/strong> for operations. In general, core facilities recover their cost,<\/strong> or a portion of their cost, of providing service in the form of user fees<\/strong> that are charged to an investigator\u2019s funds<\/strong>“.<\/p>\nNational Institutes of Health (NIH), (2022)<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n
